A Note from Willie and Waldo

Do you have a story and photo you would like to share about your  OPR adopted pup or dog?  We're looking for some laughs, maybe some tears, how they have changed your life, how they have touched your heart.  We will post your photo on our home page and story to the Your OPR Adoption Story page to share with all of our visitors.  Maybe, just maybe, you'll inspire someone to share their life with a homeless dog. Please send a photo and your story to: OhioPuppyRescue@aol.com

Your Donations Help Support Our Community Projects

2011 was a year of great success and impact on the community through Ohio Puppy Rescue.

*****We expanded the Ohio Puppy Rescue Spay/Neuter Fund to include partnership with Pikes Friends, Pike Co. Humane Association, Shawnee Animal Hospital, Animal Shelter Society and Noah's Ark Veterinary Hospital to provide free spay and neutering.  Our efforts have now opened up a "no questions asked" service to six Counties in Ohio for those who wish to have their dog altered.

*****We work with and financially support both Pilots N Paws and Animal Rescue Flights.  These 501(c)(3) organizations support volunteer pilots who assist with transporting rescues from all over the country.

*****We continued our educational program at the elemtary school level in the Columbus area, which focus on puppy mills and the drive to spay and neuter pets.  We celebrate the education of over 3000 students.  It is our belief that the youth of our country are the ones who will bring an end to puppy mills and request a "Pay It Forward" commitment from all who attend the presentation.  This means that over 6000 people will learn that Pets Are Not Products in 2011 alone!

*****We provided financial support to Chances Angel Rescue & Education (C.A.R.E.) in North Carolina to help defer medical costs and assist in their efforts to eliminate the use of gas chambers in the Person County Shelter.

*****We donated three pet recovery oxygen mask kits to three local fire departments

In order to continue our efforts in supporting our community, the rescue community, and the pet over population, additional funding is required. We need continuous and generous donations in order to sustain our life-changing work into 2012 and future years.  Please consider a donation to enable our work to continue.  Donations can be made by adopting one of our wonderful rescues or directly by sending a gift through PayPal.  If you wish to send a check, please contact us via email for a mailing address.

In Loving Memory of our Bridge Kids
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

Rest in Peace Clair
8/4 - 9/27/08 Parasites consumed little Clair. Once a tubby little pup, she quickly dropped weight and stopped eating. She spent several days at MedVet clinging to life prior to crossing the Rainbow Bridge.

Rest in Peace Boston
9/20 - 11/20/08 Boston was a tiny little kid who became infested with parasites. Because of his size, keeping hydrated is critical because you can lose them within 24 hrs. This is what happened to Bostone. He stopped eating and drinking and was on the way to the vet for urgent care when he passed in his Foster Mom's lap.

Rest in Peace Cindy
12/25/08-3/3/09 Coccidia is a very nasty parasite that many pups get. Because of her tiny size, Cindy became sick very quickly and required hospitalization to keep her hydrated. She fought for life for a couple of days before crossing the Rainbow Bridge.

Rest in Peace Jennie
5/9 - 9/11/2009 She ate something while at the puppy mill which clogged her intestines. We performed emergency surgery to remove it but little Jennie did not survive the ordeal.
