                             A Note from Owen

Do you have a story and photo you would like to share

about your  OPR adopted pup or dog?  We're looking for some laughs, maybe some tears, how they have changed your life, how they have touched your heart.  We will post your photo on our home page and story to the Your OPR Adoption Story page to share with all of our visitors.  Maybe, just maybe, you'll inspire someone to share their life with a homeless dog. Please send a photo and your story to: OhioPuppyRescue@aol.com

           OPR Spay/Neuter Project!

2009 was a year of great success and impact on the community through Ohio Puppy Rescue. We created the OPR Spay/Neuter Fund.  This is currently a collaboration with animal agencies in Pike and Scioto Counties, as well as Shawnee Animal Hospital, to sponsor spay and neuters for those less fortunate.  In order to continue our efforts in supporting our community and the pet over population, additional funding is required.  We need continuous and generous donations in order to sustain our life-changing work into 2010 and future years.  Please consider a donation to enable our work to continue! Donations can be made by adopting one of our wonderful rescues or directly through PayPal If you wish to send a check, please contact us via email for a mailing address.

**OPR is in need of donations to pay for Chowder's vet bills.  Surgery, hospitalization, and after care have exceeded $1000.  Your help is very much needed so we can rescue more special needs dogs.**

Chowder is a Cavalier King Charles spaniel and Bichon Frise mix known as a Cavachon.

She was rescued from a puppy mill and came to us missing her front left paw and suffering from a diaphragmatic hernia.

3/29 Update - Chowder has had her emergency surgery to repair her hernia.  The hernia enveloped her heart and was life threatening.  It was also very large and putting pressure on her organs.  The total cost of the initial surgery was over $1000.

4/1 Update - Chowder was released from the hospital.  Her incision is about 8" long which reflects the size of the hernia and complexity of the procedure.  We were told to expect follow up visits and xrays to amount to another $500-$800.  Please help us with a small donation to help support this treatment.

4/5 Update - Chowder has touched the hearts of everyone she's met.  She truly is one of Suri's Shining Stars.  We're pleased to report that Chowder will be placed with one of the wonderful people at Westerville Veterinary Clinic.  She will continue to have the medical care she needs and will probably get fitted with a prosthetic for her deformed foot.  We are thrilled for her and her new home.

4/11 Update - Although she is doing great and we think she will live a normal and happy life, she is still a "special needs" gal.  Due to her surgery, she will need an annual chest x-ray to be sure everything is still in place as she grows.  Also, her front leg will just need to be monitored for any changes or skin irritations as she uses it differently than other pups due to her lack of a full paw on that leg.

**********Please help us offset the costs of Chowder's surgery by donating via PayPal**********
